GILGIT, July 7: Gilgit-Baltistan has been cut off from the world for the last two days due to major telecommunication breakdown. The glitch has disrupted work in government and private offices as well as civic life.  Although the Special Communication Organisation (SCO) had announced that it has started 3G and 4G cellular service in the region from June 15, the consumers complain about poor service and frequent drop of signal and slow Internet service.

The SCO cellular services in GB were disrupted Tuesday owing to a major fault in the company’s network.

Internet subscribers have been facing difficulties due to the disruption.

The cellular service outage also brought to halt work in the Chief Minister’s secretariat and other government and private offices.

The local newspapers could not be published for the last two days due to cellular phone and data service suspension.

The SCO officials could not be reached for comments.
