APC to discuss rising incidents of HR violations in Gilgit on 23rd

An all-parties conference (APC) has been rescheduled on Wednesday (Aug 23) to discuss the increasing restrictions on freedom of expression and violation of fundamental rights in Gilgit-Baltistan, Supreme Appellate Court Bar Association (SACBA) President Advocate Ehsan Ali said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

The APC has been called by the Awami Action Tehreek or People’s Action Movement (PAM) to discuss the increasing incidents of arrests of political and social activists and violation of human rights, which has become a norm of the day and a matter of serious concern for the political, religious, human rights and civil society organizations, Advocate Ali said.

All progressive, democratic and religious parties, lawyers, journalists, youth, intellectuals and social activists who believe in freedom of expression, a birthright of every human being, have been invited to the conference that will be held at the Palace Hotel Gilgit on Wednesday at 3pm.

He urged all democratic, progressive and human rights organizations and individuals to attend the conference and evolve a common agenda and plan of action for the protection of fundamental human and democratic rights of the people of GB.
