GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has approved amendments to the Assistance Package policy for its deceased employees, enhancing age limit and employment scale for appointment, says a notification.

According to the notification, the Assistance Package policy was approved on April 19th, 2016, for the family members or legal heirs of a deceased government servant who dies during service. The policy has been revised which will be enforced with immediate effect.

As per the revised policy notified on October 1, 2018, one eligible family member or legal heir (widow, widower, or children) of a deceased employee will be appointed on regular basis against the posts from BS-1 to 15 instead of BS-10.

The age limit for a widow or widower of the deceased employee for job has also been relaxed up to age 50 years for appointment under the Assistance Package, the notification elaborates.

However, it clarified that the cases already decided where employment has been provided under the package earlier shall not be re-opened, the revised package says. The revised policy shall be applicable to all such cases where no employment has been provided previously to the families of the deceased government servant under the package.

The remaining provisions of the package for the deceased employees already notified by the GB government on April 19th, 2016 shall remain the same, the notification said.
