Karachi – Two Pakistani youth make their mark at the 9th Oxford Big Read (OBR) Competition, a global literary contest designed to foster a lifelong love of reading among students, according to an OUP announcement.
Droshum Ali, a grade 9 student from Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Kharadar, Karachi, was declared the Global Runner-Up in Level III. Anabia Imtanan, a grade 6 student from Winnington School, Khewra, northern Punjab, secured the title of Global Runner-Up in Level II.
The 2023 competition, launched on December 7, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 1,142 students across Pakistan, representing a diverse range of schools nationwide.
This year, Pakistan’s National Winners represented the country on the global stage, competing with students from other OUP branches in Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and India, the announcement stated.
The OBR is designed with three competition levels to cater to different age groups: Level I (grades 1–3), level II (grades 4–6), and level III (grades 7–9).
OUP extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their outstanding efforts and applauds the unwavering support of schools, teachers, and parents in nurturing these bright literary talents.
