Climber Iman Karim falls to death on G-II


Iman Karim, a young climber from Shimshal, the valley of climbers, lost his life in an accident during solo trekking at Gasherbrum-II.

He was leading a team in the acclimatization process for the expedition when he fell into a deep crevasse.

According to mountaineering sources, he had gone on solo trekking from the base camp when he fell into the crevasse.

Karim was part of an expedition along with noted mountaineer Sirbaz Khan and Rana Javed.

The young climber had been assisting army personnel to make routes to the high altitude posts on Siyakangri during the winter season.

He was widely acknowledged in the mountaineering community for his bravery, hard work and being a rescuer.

His death is considered a great loss to the mountaineering community of Gilgit-Baltistan.
