COVID-19: ban on public, religious gatherings in Nagar, Yasin

GILGIT: The administrations of Nagar District and Yasin Tehsil in Ghizer District as preemptive measures have banned all kinds of public and religious gatherings in their respective jurisdiction to contain the spread of coronavirus.

According to a notification, issued by the Nagar Deputy Commissioner, the administration in pursuance of the Gilgit-Baltistan government decision and after consultation with the Nagar Supreme Council and religious clerics, has banned all kinds of public meetings, rallies, religious gatherings, majalis, processions, festivals, and sports events for three weeks.

The notification further says that violators will be sent behind bars.

The administration has asked people to adopt precautionary measures and remain inside their homes and avoid meeting people and attending gatherings.

Assistant Commissioner Yasin Tehsil has also imposed a ban on all kinds of gatherings, festivals and sports activities in the tehsil for three weeks.

The number of coronavirus patients has risen to 30 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

A young doctor, Osama Riaz, who was performing duty at Jaglot quarantine camp has also got infected by the virus and has been admitted to a hospital.
