In a groundbreaking achievement, the Digital Diamer Initiative, a flagship programme by Mediotech, has successfully trained 32 women in Chilas in digital marketing and communication skills. This pioneering effort marks a significant milestone in the district’s journey towards digital empowerment.
Conducted under the directives of IT minister Surya Zaman, the initiative aims to transform Diamer’s economic landscape by fostering women’s inclusion in the digital economy.
Supported by the e-Rozgar project of the Gilgit-Baltistan government’s IT Department, the training sessions equipped participants with essential skills in social media marketing, content creation, and effective communication.
Breaking barriers
Talking to the High Asia Herald, Arshad Hussain, CEO of Mediotech, expressed pride in leading this historic effort and reiterated his commitment to the cause of emancipation of women in the most conservative and impoverished society of Diamer.
“We are committed to creating opportunities for Diamer’s youth and women, ensuring they have the tools needed to compete and thrive in the digital age,” he emphasized.

The participants praised the programme, saying it has given them valuable skills and confidence to explore new opportunities and contribute to their communities.
