The decision to set up the ‘Hindu Kush Press Club’ at Buni was taken after consultation and deliberations by the journalists.

An interim body of the press club has also been formed which will be changed or expanded as per democratic traditions.

Noted writer and poet Zakir Muhammad Zakhmi has been nominated as the chief patron of the club while Karim Ullah has been elected President, G.K Sareer as secretary-general, Sarfraz Shahid, as finance secretary, Jahanzeb-Ur-Rehman as joint secretary and Syed Hussain as information secretary.

The new body vowed to promote objective and pro-people journalism, pluralism, harmony, highlight public issues at national and international level and work for the capacity building of young journalists.

The new body, which has already started working from a rented building, demanded from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, chief minister and provincial information secretary to allocate fund for construction of the club’s own building.
